How we can support:
Feelings (all of them) are fundamental to being human- for children and adults. Living a full and whole hearted life is not the absence of feelings, it’s finding ways to navigate them that allow us greater flexibility, freedom and choice. I believe that transformation and change can come in context of connection, compassion and a welcoming and nurturing environment - holistic psychology is a whole human approach, drawing on a range of science-based mind-body-spirit approaches to help you / your family connect to its unique strengths and coping skills, find creative ways to navigate difficulties, to reframe old stories, to move closer to what truly matters in your lives and heart, and your preferred futures.
With 10+ years training and working as a clinical psychologist, working across the life span, I have specialist training in a range of evidence-based psychological approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, systemic and narrative therapy, mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I draw on nurturing parenting, and trauma-informed and focused approaches. I have specialist expertise in using mind-body techniques and yoga therapy skills to promote emotion and nervous system regulation, transformation and growth. We may use these approaches in an integrated way, or decide together to use one primary approach.
Your unique family
Seeking help as a parent (or parent-to-be), when you, your child or family is experiencing difficulties or distress is a courageous step to support yours and/or your child’s holistic needs. Every child, family and parent system and individual is unique, which is why I draw on a range of approaches. When working together, we will explore to make sense of your experiences, connect to your voice and values, and work compassionately to help you navigate understandable struggles, and nurture strengths and coping skills.
I am interested in understanding individuals and families within their unique context, supporting them to give voice to experiences and build their preferred futures. This might include (although not limited to) family culture, race, gender, sexuality, and unique intersections of their identities that impact on their experience of the world. We might explore the wider social political contexts that impact on psychological wellbeing and mental health, including systems of power and oppression, dominant societal narratives (for example around parenting or motherhood) from a reflective, relational, critical and community psychology lens.
Looking for support?
Whether you are an adult or parent(s) seeking individual support, or as a couple, or seeking support around your child, young person or family, you can book a FREE 15-minute consultation. This is a quick chat to explore whether therapy might be useful and to answer questions you might have. If it sounds like I can help, we’ll arrange an initial assessment. I offer mostly online therapy, with a limited number of in person sessions in East London. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch - I’d love to hear from you.
Please note this support is not suitable if you have an urgent or crisis concern about you, or a child or young person - in this case please contact the GP or other known health or care professional.
